HD TV Sets: The Most Important Specifications
While HD televisions have many interesting and fun features the most important thing is that they look great. The picture looks very nice and colorful and the level of detail is simply stunning. But, like computers these wonderful televisions are very different from each others in terms of performance. For this reason it is a good idea to know what you are against when you venture out to buy your first HD Tv. One of the many things that a lot of consumers do not understand is that while the resolution that two sets are using may be the same, the quality of the picture can be very different. Here are some of the specifications that seem to have the most direct impact in the quality of picture independent of the resolution that the set is using.
Refresh rates are very important when it comes to motion. A set that has a low refresh rates tends to distort the edges of objects that move in the picture. It is important for a set to have a decent refresh rate in order to be able to display movement without this type of distortion appearing in the picture. However, refresh rates that are very high can be annoying for some so choose one that has a decent rate and that can easily adjusted. Many LCD televisions have adjustable settings that you can change if you find that rates that are too high are not your thing.
Contrast is one of the most important specs to look out for since the quality of the picture in terms of depth and how realistic it looks has a lot to do with how high the contrast ratio is. The higher the number the better the picture looks.
Another thing to look out for is the products viewing angle. While the viewing angle is something that you can get around easily by sitting facing the television and as centralized with the middle of the screen as possible it can be a little annoying if the set needs to be positioned too high or too low. Narrow viewing angles tie the consumer to a small area if he or she wants to see a clear picture. If the consumer moves from the center of the screen too much, either horizontally or vertically, the colors of the picture will look distorted and strange. Sometimes the picture looks too bright or too dark.
These are very important specifications that all consumers should look at when they are looking for an HD Tv so that in the end they feel happy with the product and don’t feel like they wasted their money. Most high end sets usually have high contrast, refresh rates and wide viewing angles but if the consumer is searching for and budget set then some precautions should be taken in order to ensure a good investment.
