Panasonic Lumix TS2 Digital Camera: Pros and Cons
Belonging to the successful Lumix series this is an ideal camera for people who indulge in adventure sports and who like to capture shots in challenging environs. The Panasonic Lumix TS2 as it is widely called in the US markets is also known as the Lumix FT2 in other markets.
This camera is the second in series of outdoor cameras released by Panasonic catering to users who like their cameras to be tough, handle shocks, moisture, extreme temperatures and even 6 foot drops. This is an extremely functional camera which has over 25 different shooting modes that can handle pretty much all shooting conditions. Some of these are night portraits; beach, fireworks, sunset and panorama assist among others. This particular model is part of the rugged camera market which Panasonic entered last year as competition to Olympus.
As compared to its predecessor this camera is not only priced lower by a good $100 but also is an upgrade from 12.1 MP to 14.1 MP which helps when one wishes to do cropping. It has a Leica wide angle lens 28 mm with a CMOS sensor which gives you good quality shots depending upon ambient light conditions. This Panasonic Lumix waterproof camera has uses in cold, wet conditions and is able to withstand up to 10 meters submersion. Another addition has been the HD video option image stabilization feature. The widely acclaimed Intelligent Auto Mode (iA) also features in this camera making it less hassle free for the user.
While this camera has a lot of pros, one of the few downsides is the difficulty in reviewing pictures in bright light conditions on its 2.7 inch LCD screen. However that apart this is a very easy to use, friendly to the pocket camera with loads of features which justifies its cost of $599 in the tough camera market. So come what may sand, surf, snow or heat this camera promises to function despite of it all.
