Finally, the long heralded promise of a wireless world, and untethered musical enjoyment, is coming to pass with the introduction of the latest BlueTooth speakers. Ever since streamed music and mobile music players (be they smart phones or laptops) have been married, the thing that has held them back has been the poor speaker options. The quality of downloaded MP3 files and streamed music is good; the richness of functionality of your smart phone (whether iPhone, Android, Blackberry or other), or laptop has come on leaps and bounds; and the online library you can select from now is truly universal. But for all that, and all the portability of these devices, you are still forced to plug in to tune in to your favorite sounds.

No longer- Bluetooth technology, which was always envisaged as a way for all manner of devices to communicate, is now delivering the solution that portable music consumers have dreamed of. Music lovers do not want tinny phone or warbling laptop speakers turning their aural music pleasure to dust. They want to be able to enjoy the full texture, complexity, and above all depth and volume of the music they adore. Bluetooth speakers allow you to achieve this, without the umbilical cord of the speaker cable (like on logitech speakers) – music flows from your mobile music devices to the speaker seamlessly.

The new kid on the block is called A2DP, short for Advanced Audio Distribution Profile, and the great thing is that Bluetooth supports it out of the box. In order to make full use of the functionality of A2DP, you will need to have A2DP enabled wireless speakers and mobile musical device supporting A2DP, as well as Bluetooth. You then simply select the Bluetooth settings from your laptop or mobile – and the speakers should appear as a Bluetooth enabled device you can ‘pair up’ to. Once that pairing is done, whatever music is playing on your mobile or laptop comes pouring out of your speakers; and sounding just as the artist intended, and you have long dreamed of.

Not only can you play music, you can use your mobile music device to select tracks, alter volume, pause or other slice and dice your musical world. These speakers can be adapted to your needs- portable, battery powered speakers for when you want to be loud and proud anywhere, up to truly staggering stereo sound system quality speakers to be used back at home. Whichever way you cut it, your musical world is now being liberated, courtesy of Bluetooth.
